Jean Fees Park, 90, of Ottawa died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Richmond Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Jean was born Sept. 6, 192,0 in Fredonia, the second child and only daughter of Helen and Walter Fees. She grew up in Iola and  graduated from High School there before attending the University of Kansas. At the University, she met her husband Ben. Her life was profoundly influenced by her father Walter, her husband Ben, and her many friends from Ottawa and the Kappa House at KU.
Shortly after graduating from KU in 1942, Jean and Ben, then a Naval Academy graduate, were married. As with so many couples, their lives together were greatly influenced by the war. In 1948 when the war ended, they left the Navy and settled in Muskegon, Mich., for three years before returning to Kansas for the rest of their lives. Jean was a homemaker, gardener, supporter of the Ottawa Library and a lifetime member of the Republican Party.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Mary Park, Homer, Alaska; a daughter and son-in-law, Cicily and Mark Robins, Oakley; and a daughter, Emy Jacobsen, Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Thomas Park, Liz and Joe Wondell and Sophia Park, and Tanya, Lance and Erin Robins; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Caden Wondell, James Beasley, Marcus and Tharron Brown and Jayden and Jenasea Robins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Park, and brothers, Jim and Walter Fees.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Ottawa. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
