John A. Walker, 77, Savonburg, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott.

He was born Oct. 29, 1938, in Bentonville, Ark., the son of Clyde Anderson Walker and Alma Berta (Blow) Walker.

John married Pat Moon and this union was blessed with two children. They later divorced. He married Linda McReynolds. This union was blessed with one son. They later divorced. He married Marilyn Joyce Steward on Jan. 7, 1984, in Erie.

He worked construction for many years, mainly bridges and dams. John owned and operated a semi, hauling hay, hogs and cattle. He worked road construction for Mike Fox, traveling throughout Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. John also worked for Pat Smith out of Stark, hauling livestock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Alma Walker; son, John Alvin Walker Jr.; and one brother, Lee Edward Walker.

John is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; children, J.A. Walker of Gypsum, Carrie Foote of Spokane, Wash., Marilyn Bruce of Independence, Mo., Brenda Haas and husband Robert of St. Joseph, Mo., Richard Bruce and wife Kathy of Pittsburg, William Rex Bruce of St. Joseph and Debra Graves of Spokane, Wash.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Moran, with burial following in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Savonburg. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home in Moran.
