Lillie Mae Collins, 93, Iola, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Allen County Regional Hospital. She was born April 25, 1921 in a log cabin south of Fulton, the daughter of William Benjamin and Lillian Elizabeth (Hahn) Sheat.
Lillie grew up in Lamar, Mo. She married Harvey A. Collins on Jan. 22, 1938 and they made their home in the Lamar area until they moved to Iola in 1948. She worked a number of years for Miller & Son Dress Factory. In 1965, she founded Central Publishing Company and the business is still being run by family. Her husband preceded her in death on July 15, 1982. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include five sons, Harry and wife Norma, Des Moines, Iowa, Dean and wife Sandra, Bella Vista, Ark., Harvey, Iola, Gary and wife Barbara, Iola, and Roger and wife Billie, Iola; one daughter, Linda Bass and husband Leo, Gas; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene in Iola. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
