Michael Keith Grayson died in a house fire at his home in Chanute on Sunday, March 18, 2012. 

Michael was born June 21, 1990, in Chanute, to James and Cathy (Nelson) Grayson and had lived in Chanute for all of his 21 years. He was a graduate of Chanute High School.

Michael worked as a heavy equipment operator for Byers Quarry but his genuine passion was for racing, and he was a familiar face in the pits (and sometimes behind the wheel) at Humboldt Speedway.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his son, Landon Michael Shelton, a sister, Cassie Grayson, Chanute, his grandmothers, Eva Grayson and Colletta Nelson, a number of aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jimmy Grayson and Richard Nelson.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel, Chanute. 

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to  p.m. at the funeral chapel.
