Russell J. Bishop, 88, Yates Center, passed away early Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at his home.
On Jan. 10, 1949, he and Betty Ann Morrow were married in Yates Center.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Russell Charles Bishop; a brother, Chester Bishop; and three sisters, Darlene West, Sarai Bishop, and Colletta Williams.
He leaves Betty, his wife of more than 68 years; his children, Eddie Bishop and wife Nancy, Kansas City, Mo., Randy Bishop and wife Christi, Yates Center, Rita L. Bishop, Burlington, Brian Bishop and wife Martha, Yates Center, and Tim Bishop and wife Kim, Andover; a daughter-in-law, Virginia “GiGi” Bishop, Yates Center, 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velary Iden, Iola, and Shirley Martinez and husband John, Goddard; a brother, David Bishop, Yates Center; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Yates Center. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.
The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
