Sara Levesta Carson, 91, a former resident of Kincaid, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Medicalodge in Fort Scott.
She was born May 18, 1919, in Irwin, Mo., to Robert Earl and Cora Ann Greer Spurling.
On May 2, 1939, she married Paul W. Carson in Nevada, Mo. He died July 24, 1990.
She had worked as an aide at Mercy Hospital, a cook for Medicalodge and enjoyed taking care of the elderly. She was a member of Pentecostal Church of God. She liked collecting dolls and antiques.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Darlene Guder and her husband, Russell, Bronson, and Carol Sue Witcomb and her husband, Wayne, Kincaid; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Spurling and Velma Spurling; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Robert Wayne and Paul Junior, four brothers, Everett, George, Elbert and Wilbur Spurling, a sister, Betty More, two grandsons, Mark Carson and Robert Eugene Carson, and a great-grandson, Skyler Winningham, died earlier.
Chaplain Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at Cheney Witt Chapel in Fort Scott. Burial will be in Clarksburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
