God called Tom to heaven on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at the age of 73. He passed away from dementia at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett.
Tom was born Feb. 14, 1943, to Orie and Mirtie (Tracy) Campbell in Larned. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964 aboard the USS Outagamie County (LST-1073).
On June 12, 1965, Tom married Loretta Delaplain in Wichita. He was employed by Koch Industries in Wichita for 26 years until he retired in 2005. They moved to Moran after he retired.
Tom enjoyed writing poetry, hunting and fishing, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Loretta; two brothers, Alvin Campbell and wife Sue, Lowell, Ark., and Victor Campbell and wife Marilyn, Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Carolyn Swift, Wichita, and Louise McGarrah and husband Larry, Rogers, Ark., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Donald Speer, Pearl Brandstetter, May Kresge and Gene Campbell.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke’s Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.
