Vic Adams

Victor Lee Adams, 85, of Yates Center, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at the Eureka Nursing Center surrounded by his family.

Vic was born Sept. 14, 1940, the son of Fred E. Timmie and Clara Grace (Frevert) Adams in their home near Turkey Creek east of Yates Center. Vic was their third and final child. He attended Yates Center schools.

On Feb. 3, 1964, he and Mary Jo “Jody” Boyd were married in El Dorado. They became the parents of three children, Scott, Staci and Skip.

Vic purchased his first truck in the late 1950s, hauling hay from the field to the barn, Next he hauled hay from the barn to Dodge City Livestock. He expanded from there to include grain, livestock, and general commodities. At his peak he had 22 trucks and numerous grain, livestock, and commodities trailers. Blackjack Cattle Company supported Vic’s endeavors from the beginning. Vic’s success was due to wonderful employees. Vic would help anyone who would work. He never met a stranger. Aside from trucking, Vic enjoyed supporting local sports, K-State sports, and farmed from 1974 to 1984.

Vic shared a special relationship with his eldest son, Scott, from farming and trucking. Scott faithfully cared for his father to the very end.

His wife, Jody, preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2014, following 50 years of marriage. He was also preceded by his parents; his oldest brother, Richard; and granddaughters, Leann and Chloe Fruth.

He is survived by his children, Scott Adams (Nancy), Yates Center, Staci Fruth (Patrick), Clearwater, Minn., and Skip Adams (Shey), Brownwood, Texas; his older sister, Shirley Redifer, Yakult, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Jesse, Brae, and Jax Adams, Bridger Fruth, Colby, Madellyne, Ashtyn, and Falynn Adams; three great-grandchildren, Knox, Waylon, and Cash; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Town Hall in Yates Center. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
