Wayne Oshel, Wichita, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at the age of 86.
Wayne was the last child of 11 children born to Emmett Cleveland Oshel and Edna Leora (Fields) Oshel. He was born in Fall River in Greenwood County. After graduation from high school, Wayne enlisted into the U.S. Army in Syracuse, N.Y. on March 13, 1952.
He married Martha M. Harrington, and to this union were four children, two sons and two daughters. Wayne always had worked as an OTR trucker which he retired after 40-plus years.
He enjoyed watching pro wrestling, the History Channel, and his cookbook collection.
He is survived by sons, Wayne (Pamela) Oshel, Jr. and Steven Oshel, all of Wichita; grandchildren Jessie, Melissa, Angel, Anthony, Stephanie, Christopher, Larry and Justin; 13 great-grandchildren; other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha M. Oshel, daughters Jackie Davis and Theresa Taylor, parents Emmett and Edna Oshel and brothers and sisters, Ronald Emmett Oshel, Ruth Leora Hays, Harvey Doris Oshel, Alfred Oshel, Norma Claire Oshel, Jessie Oshel, Roy Melvin Oshel, Ralph Merlin Oshel, Nellie Fern Werchan and Dora May Oshel.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Coyville Cemetery, Coyville. Baker Funeral Home Valley Center is handling arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com.
