It makes two floors of the center accessible to handicapped people. Watching Heard motor down the stairs are Superintendent of Schools Don Bain and Richard Chase, assistant superintendent.

American Cancer Society coffers are $5,000 richer because of a golf tournament held at the Allen County Country Club over the weekend. The fund-raising event, the second annual one, was organized locally, said Larry Hauser. He said he and others thought raising $2,500 would be good. I guess we set our sights too low, he said. Hauser said 108 golfers participated, each paying a $35 entry fee. In addition, 47 businesses and individuals made contributions. Winners in the womens division were Cara Collins, Beth Mathewson, Jan Ingels and Cathy Vance; in the mens division, Jay Evans, Dave Yokum, Rick Conner and Dale Wichman.
