Letter to the editor – June 2, 2021

Dear editor,

In regards to more mass murders, guns are not the problem. People are.

We seem to have gone from being kind, generous people to “it’s all about me and money.”

We need better ways to identify and treat mental health issues and people with an ax to grind. Changing gun laws would only get people riled up.

I wonder if they would get as upset if their freedom of religion was threatened. We take that for granted and have been drifting away from it for quite a while.

We are spoiled and have too many distractions We have had COVID-19, crazy weather, violence and greed. I wonder if there is a connection. Think about it.

Maude Burns,

Iola, Kan.
