To the editor,
I, Carey Goodman, and Beverly Higinbotham disagree with what Richard Luken wrote about us in the paper on March 10.
We are all for the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility and are happy that it is in our town. I myself, Carey Goodman, have adopted two animals from ACARF. Another one of my family members has also adopted. I have no complaints about ACARF.
We also stated that we were concerned about the welfare of the animals being dropped off, like getting hit by a car … (etc.)
Yes, it is true that the number of abandoned animals has risen in LaHarpe. But you can expect that anywhere a shelter is put up.
We never said anything negative about ACARF and feel that he put all this into his own words.
We do have issues with animals who belong to our neighbors running at large. They let them out at night to destroy people’s property with the abandoned animals and that is what we said.
Thanks,
Carey Goodman,
Beverly Higinbotham,
LaHarpe, Kan.
