To the editor:
Once again Iola Mayor Bill Shirley has decided an issue for the entire county. It seems the Allen County commissioners, as well as the county department heads, just go along with whatever Iola wants.
I have no doubt that Shirley is ready to “…appoint the city’s members.” To no one’s surprise, they will be the same “yes men” that run everything.
With the exception of a couple of the newly elected Iola Council members (known as the troublemakers) it seems that everyone else has bowed so long at the altar of Iola that any attempt to stand straight and grow a spine would be too painful. Or perhaps if one were to rally against an Iola dictum, there is fear of a lightning bolt hurled from Heaven against the lone dissenter.
