The water rates are statistically high. Now that we have cut consumption, Iola wants to punish us by raising rates.
The people of Iola need to learn from the mistake that the fact finders of the water plant advisory board did when they overbuilt the water plant.
This mentality that if we build it they will come has to stop. The one true way to stop the decline of the population is to make it cheaper to live here than anywhere else. We are a small town getting smaller, if we treat it as such we may be able to save ourselves.
