[Readers’ forum] Pay for education

I understand that getting a great education from college is needed in today’s businesses and hiring techniques. It has always been said that the higher your education, the more potential you have for making more money.
I would like to know why different companies require college education when they don’t pay any more than some factory jobs or other non-college jobs. I think that if a business requires you to have a college education, they should be required to at least help for some of your college expense. Because to me it looks like that going to college benefits the company but not the employee. The employee should be rewarded for going to college and furthering his or her education.
On the topic of NCAA sports, I think that the players should be getting paid. The college students are putting in a full day’s work of practice and games and cannot receive financial compensation because that would be “illegal.” I feel that it should be illegal for college institutions not to pay their players. NCAA sports are a million-dollar or maybe a billion-dollar industry a year. Why shouldn’t the students get paid?  They would have a hard time finding time for their classwork it would seem to me. These college atheletes are entertaining as much or more than the professional sports.

Sincerely,
