Another effort to silence the thugs of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka is being made.
Nine retired U.S. Air Force generals have filed a complaint with Kansas regulators seeking to disbar 10 lawyers — most of whom are children of the Rev. Fred Phelps — for picketing military funerals, which, the generals contend, violates the state’s professional conduct rules for lawyers.
Phelps and his kids have been picketing military funerals since 2005 and staging disgusting anti-gay protests for nearly 20 years. The signs they display, the songs they sing, the slogans they chant, their flag-trampling tantrums, surely are in violation of any professional conduct rules ever written for any organization of human beings.
If violating a conduct code is grounds for disbarment, the generals may have found a way to put the Westboro heathen on the unemployment roles even if they can’t be tossed in jail for being nasty.
Here’s a heartfelt salute to the generals nine.
