Friday the Storm Prediction Center in Norman issued a warning that severe weather, including baseball-sized hail and tornadoes, could strike central Oklahoma and range into Kansas as far as Salina this afternoon and evening. The storms could be a “high-end life threatening event,” the dispatch said.
Storm prediction apparently has become a more exact science. Time was when people felt fortunate to get a few minutes warning that funnel clouds were forming and a tornado might drop down. Now the forecasters are looking 36 hours ahead.
Let’s hope their gadgets aren’t really that accurate. But let’s stay alert.
