ACC falls at Hutch

The Allen County men’s and women’s basketball teams ran into some trouble when they ventured west on Saturday to take on Hutchinson.
The Blue Dragon men and women are both at the top of the KJCCC standings with the men ranked sixth in the country and the women possessing an 11-game win streak.
The Lady Devils fell 77-54.
The women are 4-11 and 2-9 in league play after the loss.
Allen County trailed only by seven going into the half and 12 headed into the fourth quarter when the Blue Dragons closed the game on a 26-15 run to fully put the Lady Devils away.
Freshman Jakira Wilson had another great performance after scoring 21 versus Dodge City last Wednesday, leading Allen County with 17 points, five rebounds and two steals.
Freshman Destiny Pittman was the other Lady Devil to score in double-figures with 11.
The Allen County men followed that up with a 103-75 loss to the Hutch men.
The men are now 5-10 and 3-8 in conference play.
Sophomore Jordan Marshall continues to establish his place on the team after taking a nine-game hiatus. He led the Red Devils with 20 points followed by 12 for sophomore Tyler Williams and 11 for sophomore Jacob Patterson.
The Red Devils really took a hit in the rebounding column, losing the rebounding battle 55-37.
Allen County trailed by 11 at halftime and the Blue Dragons extended their lead by 17 before the end of the game.
Allen County went 7-32 from behind the arc and shot 32.5 percent overall while Hutchinson shot 52.6 percent.
The Red Devil men and women will host Cloud County on Wednesday. The Cloud women are one of the top teams in the KJCCC with a record of 13-5 while the men are 3-8.
