ACC men and women finish 10th, 11th in championship

GARDEN CITY ? It may not have been the result they were hoping for, but with a 10th- and 11th-place finish in the NJCAA Cross Country Championships, the Allen Community College men and women continued to prove they still reside among the junior college cross country elite.

The meet took place Saturday at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City.

The men finished 10th with 316 overall points, coming in behind fellow KJCCC schools Cloud County (6th), Hutchinson (7th) and Colby (8th).

Sophomore Joshua Clethen finished first among the Red Devils with a 39th place finish and a time of 27:28.6.

Sophomore Yoel Yoel placed 54th (27:47.3), freshman Joshua Doria placed 69th (28:14), freshman Garrett Gantt finished 86th (28:31.2), sophomore Raul Sanchez finished 92nd (28:36.2), freshman Mitchell Dervin placed 105th (28:49.5) and sophomore Adrian Pishny finished 119th (29:06.9).

 

THE LADY Devils came in 11th with 385 points, trailing fourth-place Cowley Community College among KJCCC teams. They were also just in front of Hutchinson (12th) and Pratt (13th).

Sophomore Amber Gloria ended up 40th (20:39), sophomore Esmeralda Rodriguez placed 81st (21:27.6), freshman Laina Kanuho finished 91st (21:37.4), sophomore Karen Perez placed 103rd (21:53.5), freshman Ryiann Araujo finished 123rd (22:01.4), freshman Emisela Martines placed 149th (22:24.9) and sophomore Marianna Duenes-Gomez (22:35.2) placed 157th.

The Allen athletes and coaches will now have a few months off before the indoor track and field season starts to ramp up in January.
