HUTCHINSON — Allen County Community College’s golf team members struggled in the second round of the Sterling College’s Warrior Invitational.
“We were in fourth place after round one and I thought we played fairly well in the strong winds,” said Mike Hayes, ACCC gold coach.
“We played very poorly in the second round. We didn’t handle adversity and some bad breaks very well.”
Allen County finished seventh in the 36-hole tournament held Monday and Tuesday. It was at Highland’s Country Club golf course in Hutchinson.
Will Clark ended up tied for 16th. Clark shot a 169 with rounds of 80 and 89. Rob Carlson was tied for 20th at 171 (85-86).
Nick Agnew shot a 177 (86-91) and Bryant Welch had a 188 (98-90) and Gavin Cole carded a 192 (94-98).
“It’s still early this spring and we haven’t had as much practice time as we would like. We will get better. The guys are working hard,” Hayes said.
Allen County goes to Jayhawk Conference Designated No. 5 this coming Sunday and Monday. It will be played at Hesston Golf Club.
