Jenna Sigg, Allen County Community College freshman, received more postseason honors in softball.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA NJCAA Division II All-America teams recently. Sigg, the Red Devils’s third baseman, was named to the second team as an infielder.
Sigg led the ACCC softball team and the entire Jayhawk Conference in home runs with 18. That was third best in the nation.
The Iola native was second on the Red Devil team in batting average at .398. Sigg was the team’s leader in stolen basees, 36 of 38 attempts, which was 13th best in the nation.
She also led the team and the conference in RBIs with 63, 18th best in the nation.
Sigg scored 55 runs and had 76 hits. She had 10 doubles and four triples. She had a fielding percentage of .927 playing third base.
Sigg was named the 2010 Jayhawk Eastern Division Freshman of the year by division coaches. She earned Jayhawk Eastern Division second-team honors and named to the All-Region VI, Division II District E first team at third base.
The Red Devils were 39-22 overall in 2010. Allen County was third in the Jayhawk East at 21-5 and third in the Region VI, Division II at 25-5.
