OTTAWA — History repeated itself on the baseball diamond Monday.

Fresh off a tough weekend series, Allen Community College’s Red Devils rebounded in dominating fashion, completing a sweep of Ottawa University’s JV squad, winning 12-1 and 15-4.

Sound familiar?

It’s a nearly carbon copy of what transpired the week prior, after Allen had a tough stretch of games only to outclass the Ottawa JV squad at home.

That action was interrupted by rain, however, which meant completing a suspended game with Allen leading 13-0 after three innings. That score remained unchanged over the final two innings, leading to Monday’s doubleheader.

The victories bump ACC back over the .500 mark at 13-11.

Allen is back in action Thursday with a doubleheader at Labette, and a doubleheader Saturday at home against the Cardinals to wrap up the four-game set.

Monday’s action started bright and early with ACC putting the finishing touches on its 13-0 victory.

Jacob Shope came on in relief to complete the two-hit shutout, striking out three batters over three innings. Ryan Ferger pitched the first two scoreless innings, allowing one hit with four strikeouts.

Josh Prinner continued his white-hot hitting, wrapping up the game with a home run and two triples, six RBIs and three runs. Levi Bennett added a single and triple, while Ayden Blachowicz rapped out a pair of singles. Lucas Bach had two hits, and Tanner Strickland and Lucas Barta both doubled. Sal Jacobo added a single.

WITH THAT out of the way, Allen picked things up in the second inning of the regular opener, tacking on seven in the fourth to seal the win.

Hunter Belton handled the pitching chores, shutting down the Braves offense over five innings, allowing three hits with one strikeout.

Iolan Brady Wiggin was the chief protagonist on offense, smashing a home run while going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Shaun Gomez Jr. tacked on a single and triple, while Gage Stark singled and doubled. Jacobo, Kam’Ron Mays-Hunt, Beau Brown and Ryan Lowery added singles.

THE HITS kept coming in the finale, as Allen pounded out 20 hits, eight for extra bases.

The top five hitters in the ACC lineup combined to go 16 for 22 with 10 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

Prinner went 4-for-5 with four doubles, while Gomez had four hits, including two doubles, with four RBIs. Blachowicz had three hits, including a triple, while driving in four. Prinner drove in two and scored three. Levi Bennett, meanwhile, went 3-for-5 with four runs.
