ARKANSAS CITY — Allen Community College’s softball team lost a pair of games to Cowley on Friday. The Lady Red Devils fell 7-2 and 5-4.
Allen was down 7-0 in game one, before putting two runs on the board in the top of the sixth inning. Ashley Womack hit a 2-run homer that scored Tristyn Delgado. Unfortunately, Allen wasn’t able to get any more runs in the game. Cowley scored all seven runs in the fifth inning.
Womack led the team with two hits — the homer and a double. Erika King hit two singles. Cassidy Reynolds, Amber Serles and Shelby Maycumber each hit a single.
Allen lost game two, never able to get the lead. Trailing 3-0 in the top of the fourth, ACC did come back to tie the game.
Kayla Bourgeois hit a single that scored two to put Allen on the board. MyKenna Sharp-Hadl came around to score on an error. Cowley answered back with a run in the bottom of the frame. A solo-homer in the fifth inning extended the Cowley lead to 5-3.
In the top of the seventh, Ashley Womack reached base on an error. Maycumber was able to score on the play — she reached on an error earlier in the inning. Womack was able to make it to third base with two outs. But, Allen couldn’t find a way to get her in to tie the game and lost.
Bourgeois, Maycumber, Emmy McManigal, Erin Pearley and Krystal Waggoner accounted for one single apiece.
Allen (13-19) will host KCK at 2 o’clock in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
