A pair of Yates Center High golfers recorded season-best marks Tuesday, including Nick Schemper, who earned a 24th place finish with his 94 at a meet hosted by Neodesha.
On the junior varsity side, Derrick Heslop and Eric Updegrove traveled to Fort Scott for a meet hosted by Uniontown High.
Heslop shot a 59, good for 12th place. Updegrove carded an 83, good for 22nd.
“I am very happy for Derrick winning his first golf medal,” Yates Center coach Kevin Barnes said. “I also made a deal with him at the start of the season. When he shot below a 60, I would move him up to varsity. He is pretty exited about getting to do that now.”
Marmaton Valley High’s Jacob Schaffer carded a 47, which took second in the Fort Scott meet. The Wildcats’ Payton Wilson finished 18th with a 71.
