CASA of the 31st Judicial District held their 19th Annual Father’s Day Charitable Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
CASA was honored and excited to be the FIRST tournament on the newly refurbished Allen County Country Club golf course.
The tournament is always held to celebrate Father’s Day and the important role that Fathers play in raising Children, but also to celebrate Flag Day and to have some fun while raising funds to increase the capacity of the Court Appointed Special Advocates program in this Judicial District. CASA serves Children through the Courts in Allen, Neosho, Woodson and Wilson County.
The theme was Fathers and Flags and Cynthia Jacobson, CASA Board President, assumed the role of Host as she is retiring from CASA soon.
Fun was the highlight as well as camaraderie, but competition was fierce in the three flight tournament and several teams ran neck in neck throughout play. Nineteen teams with 74 golfers tee’d off.
First place in A Flight was Monarch Cement with team members Steve Sellman, Scott Stryker, Mike Byers and Eric Byers. Second place in A Flight was McIntosh-Booth Insurance No. 2 with members Chuck Gardner, Betty Gardner, Kent Short and Rick Jensen.
First place in B Flight was Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline with members Sterling Barker, Luke Smith, Ron Ballard II and Ron Ballard. Second place in B Flight was Twin Motors Ford with members Doug Stewart, Mike Koehn, Blake Appling and Jeremy Sellman.
First place in C Flight was Nelson Quarries – Dennis Skahan, Larry Hart, Patrick Clift and Rick Clift. Second place in C Flight was Ash Grove Cement CHC – Oliver Bunker, Richard Haslett and Kathy Larson.
Contests during the golf meet were won by Garrett Kalm, Men’s Longest Drive; Kirsten Zenner, Women’s Longest Drive; Steve Sellman, Longest Putt and Kyle Murphy, Closest to the Pin.
Monarch Cement team members generously donated their cash prizes back to CASA to further the program. Prizes for C Flight and the on course contests were donated by Mike Hofer, CASA Board Member.
CASA lends extreme thanks to Dennis Skahan and Dan Leslie for stepping up as volunteers to score the tournament.
All funds raised from this tournament will remain within the 31st Judicial District including Allen, Neosho, Woodson and Wilson Counties to help serve children here in the court system.
CASA thanks everyone for their generosity in helping to fund the CASA program which is so important in providing advocate services to abused and neglected children.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) recruits, trains and supports volunteer advocates who the Judges assign to children who have been found by the court to be “in need of care.”
