The Eagles and the Lady Vikings of Northeast had a knock-out, drag-out match that went three games. The Lady Vikings prevailed 25-21, 26-28, 25-21.
“We’re disappointed in our loss against Northeast but we didn’t play up to our potential,” said Jackie Hall, UHS head coach. “We struggled with our passing and couldn’t seem to hold serve in our strong rotations.”
Hall said Northeast executed its game plan very well. She said she was proud of the way the Eagles hung in there but “we certainly have some work to do to improve our passing and coverages before we head to Cherryvale Saturday.”

“We were short-handed due to discipline reasons and we did not handle it well in the first match,” said Stephanie Splechter, Lady Cub head coach. “Brandi Malloy went down with an ankle sprain four points into the second match.”
Splechter said the Lady Cubs worked hard against Leon-Bluestem to keep themselves in the match. She said they had a lot of girls playing in new positions and “I’m proud of the way they played in the second match.”
Hannah McCall had eight kills for Humboldt and Melissa Davidson had six kills. Amanda Maxton put up three set assists and served for aces. Sheri Middleton had three blocks at the net.

“Against Burlingame, the first game was back and forth until Burlingame made the first move to take the lead. They jumped on us early in the second game and we couldn’t get anything going,” said Korey Lankton, Lady Titan head coach.
“Our lack of consistency in passing just sums it up for both matches. We played Waverly without Kristin Stephens because of a in jury and that hurt us. She does a good job around the net.”
Yates Center was at Fredonia with Iola. It lost to Fredonia 25-16, 25-10 and to Iola 25-16, 27-25.
