Area athletes from the ANW Co-op Special Olympics and Allen County Special Olympics groups competed in the 2011 Kansas State Special Olympics Track and Field meet, June 3-5.
The state track meet is held at Wichita State’s Cessna Stadium.
From the ANW Co-op Special Olympics were: Jonathan Cress, Iola, first in 25-meter run, third in ball throw for distance; Katlin Cress, Iola, first in 25-meter run, fifth in ball throw for distance; Kandra Manbeck, LaHarpe, third in 200-meter run, fifth in running long jump; Paige Riley, Iola, fourth in 50-m run, fourth in ball throw for distance.
Kendra Thron, Elsmore, first in 50-meter run, first in standing long jump; Christopher White, Iola, fifth in 50-meter run, third in ball throw for distance; Derek White, Iola, third in 100-meter run, second in running long jump. A relay of Manbeck, Thron, C. White and D. White was sixth.
From Allen County Special Olympics: Casey Riebel, LaHarpe, third in 100-meter run, first in softball throw; Steven Riebel, LaHarpe, second in softball throw, second in 25-meter assisted walk; Abby Westgate, Moran, fourth in softball throw, second in 100-meter run; Hana Westgate, Moran, second in softball throw, first in 100-meter run.
