COLONY — Crest Middle School’s football team scored early and often against a physical team from St. Paul Thursday.
Leading the charge was Gage Adams, who rushed for 170 yards and four touchdowns, while returning a kickoff for another score.
The Lancers were so effective, head coach Ben Vaughn was able to substitute liberally throughout the contest, in a 44-6 victory.
“It’s always nice for a middle school coach to get in all his players,” Vaughn said. “St. Paul is a very physical team, and the guys fought through it and did some good things. It was a good, solid win.”
Adams’ touchdowns covered 66, 45, 42 and seven yards. His kickoff return went 60 yards.
Caleb Stephens scored on a 30-yard run, and Chad Classen had a four-yard touchdown on offense and an interception on defense.
Recoverying fumbles for the Lancers were Austin Louk, Stephens and Adams.
Crest visits Pleasanton next Thursday.
