Whatever is on TV this evening can wait, the Iola Mustangs have an opportunity to achieve something that hasn’t happened since the 1980s and it will truly be a shame if Riverside Park isn’t absolutely packed to witness it.
The Mustangs have been working as a team since August and individually a lot longer than that to try to accomplish the goal of bringing a district crown to Iola.
They have already secured their first playoff appearance since 2008 and with a win against Girard, these Mustangs would have fought back from a 1-4 start to the season to end it on a four-game winning streak.
Whether you just haven’t been able to make it down to watch the team play this season, or if you have never gone down to Riverside Park ever for a game, tonight is the night.
The 10 seniors, who will be trying their hardest to secure that home playoff game so they can play one more game at their home stadium, deserve to be able to look to the home grandstands and not see half of the fans being clad in maroon Trojan gear.
Take back ownership of the home side of the stadium and witness a little bit of Mustang history tonight.
