HUMBOLDT — Fredonia Middle School’s Yellowjackets answered every charge Thursday in pulling home two wins against Humboldt Middle School.

“Fredonia did what it needed to in the second half,” Humboldt head coach Jeremy Weilert said. “Every time we’d make a little run, they would counter.”

In A team action, Fredonia brought home a 29-23 victory.

Fredonia used a 12-6 second-quarter run to take a 19-13 halftime lead. That margin remained the rest of the way. The Yellowjackets led 21-15 after three quarters.

Elijah Irby scored eight points with six rebounds to lead the Cubs.

Waylon Johnson added six points, Tate Thomas scored five and Christian Mataka scored four. Mason Gunderman pulled in five rebounds.

The Yellowjackets prevailed, 20-9, in B team play.

Brody Dreher scored four points, while Marccus Whitcomb scored three and Cline Downey two.

Ryker Wrestler had six rebounds.
