The Humboldt Cubs remain undefeated in Tri-Valley League play after demolishing Eureka 22-6 and 20-2 Tuesday.
With 14 runs on the scoreboard before the third inning of the opener, Humboldt made it a short night while improving their league record to 10-0 in Tri-Valley League action and 10-2 overall.
With a five-run salvo in the second inning, and seven in the third, the Cubs brought the opener to an end before the sixth inning.
In only three innings of work, senior pitcher Cole Mathes picked up the win with five strikeouts while allowing only one hit.
Senior outfielder Logan Page came in to close the opener, tallying three, but made a larger impact in the batter’s box with a team-leading six RBIs, followed by senior third baseman Kyler Isbell with three, then senior first baseman Colden Cook and junior designated hitter Grady Elder with two each.
Senior Asher Hart picked up the win in the finale with four strikeouts over three innings while senior outfielder Brody Gunderman drove in a team-leading two RBIs.
