While Southern Coffey County and Crest were in action Thursday, both Humboldt and Yates Center took to the hardwood on Friday. All four games were each school’s final chance to earn a win before Christmas break.

Here is how each team fared:

Humboldt Boys

Conor Haviland led the Cubs with 22 points, to cruise past Neodesha 65-29. Humboldt set the tone to the game early, outscoring the Blue Streaks 36-13 in the first half. With the win, Humboldt moves to 1-1 in the Tri-Valley League.

Humboldt Girls

The Lady Cubs moved to 1-1 in the Tri-Valley League with a 49-41 win over Neodesha on Friday. Overall, the Lady Cubs are 2-2 including their tournament games. It has been a decent start for the Humboldt girls, considering head coach Aubree Jones highlighted her team’s youth entering the season.

Yates Center Boys

The Wildcats blew past Altoona-Midway 62-36 on Friday night. Tytan Smoot and Reece Solander led the Wildcats with 18 and 17 points respectively. The Wildcats will host West Elk on Jan. 10 when they return from break.

Yates Center Girls
