DOUGLASS — Uniontown High’s Trenton Miller and Emily Aikins won Kansas Class 3A Regional Track meet event championships Friday. It was the first year for the Eagles in 3A competition.
Miller won the boys’ discus with a throw of 134 feet, 4 inches at the meet hosted by Douglass High School. Miller returns to the state track meet where he was 14th in the Class 2A discus event last year.
Aikins captured the gold medals in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. She won the 100 in 12.68 seconds. Her winning time in the 200 was 27.35 seconds.
The two Eagle athletes advance to the 2011 Kansas All-Class State Track and Field Championship meet in Wichita this coming weekend. A complete time schedule for area athletes a the state meet will be in Wednesday’s Register.
Aikins placed fifth in the regional long jump with a leap of 14’111⁄2”. Abby Dixon was eighth in the discus with a throw of 85’11”.
