COLONY — Brent Smith is certain his young Crest High squad will learn the steps necessary to be successful on the field, but for now his team is taking its lumps.
On Friday, Uniontown left town with a 46-0 win in tow.
The game ended with about a minute left in the third quarter after the Eagles’ final score pushed the margin to 46, ending the game via Kansas eight-man mercy rule.
Clayton Miller racked up eight tackles with a fumble recovery, while Brandon Brallier added seven stops and Kyler Bowen had six. Taylor Davis and Landon Stephens also recovered fumbles.
“We didn’t have many offensive stats to think of,” Smith said.
The Lancers had 61 yards of total offense.
“We have several younger players who are learning what it takes to be successful at this level,” Smith said.
