Fillies volleyball earns road split

LACYGNE — The fourth time apparently was the charm for Prairie View High against Iola High’s Fillies.
After Iola won the first three volleyball matches the teams played this season, the squads matched up again on the Buffalo home court Tuesday.
Prairie View won this time, downing Iola in three sets, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20.
Not all was lost.
The Fillies doused Central Heights in straight sets, 31-29, 25-10.
Iola returns to action Tuesday at Independence in a triangular competition with host Independence and Pittsburg.
Emery Driskel and Mikaela Platt were forces against Central Heights, pounding in nine and seven kills, respectively, while Emma Piazza had 51 assists, 11 digs and five kills. Kyra Moore added 47 assists, 11 digs and a kill. Driskel also had 14 digs, an ace and two solo blocks. Emma Sigg had eight digs and an assist. Hannah Endicott had 17 digs and two assists. Platt chipped in with 11 digs. Addie Haar had three kills, two assists and five digs. Ashlie Shields had two kills, five assists and five digs. Allie Cleaver had an assist and five digs.

IOLA’S JUNIOR varsity won both of its matches, downing Prairie View, 25-12, 25-22, and Central Heights, 25-20, 25-10.
The Fillies’ freshmen split their matches, defeating Prairie View, 25-13, 25-15, but falling in three sets to Central Heights, 15-25, 26-24, 15-5.
“Too many silly errors and wasted opportunities against Central Heights,” freshmen coach Jeff Fehr said.
Alexis Heslop and Jadyn Sigg led the team in serving, Toni Macha was tops in kills and Sydney Wade was the leader in assists, he said.
