GARNETT — The Iola High volleyball team competed in the Anderson County Invitational on Saturday.
The Fillies did not earn any wins on the day and picked up three losses.
Independence handed Iola its first defeat of the meet when it won in two straight sets (25-22, 25-11).
Iola then fell to the host team, Anderson County, in two sets as well (25-12, 25-19).
In the third and final game for the Fillies, coach Emily Sigg’s team lost to Fort Scott in two sets (25-22, 25-17).
Ashlie Shields led her team in kills on the day with 14 total in three games.
“This is a really tough tournament, and we didn’t end up with a win, but we competed. I saw a lot of improvement in defense and there were some tremendous hustle plays throughout the day,” Sigg said.
