NEODESHA — Humboldt Middle School’s girls put forth what may have been their best performance of the season Monday, rolling past Neodesha, 36-16.
The Lady Cub A team led 12-3 after one period and 19-5 at halftime.
“We passed the ball extremely well,” head coach Scott Brady said. “This led to a lot of easy layups for our posts. We had only nine turnovers, undoubtedly our fewest this year.”
Kassie Angleton led the way with 14 points and eight rebounds, followed by Rylan Wilhite with 10 points, seven rebounds and six steals. Sydney Houk chipped in with six points and seven rebounds. Aricah McCall notched six points and five assists. Maggie Johnson also dished out six assists.
In B team action, Neodesha came out on top, 21-5. Britnee Works scored three points and Kaylie Johnson had two.
Brady noted the seventh-graders limited Neodesha standout Alyson Potter to five points.
“We played great defense,” he said, noting Potter scored 24 against Humboldt in the teams’ first matchup. “We just couldn’t get things going on offense.”
The Lady Cub C team won, 10-2.
Katie Lott and Zoey Rinehart both had four points. Sydney Hegwald scored two.

HUMBOLDT’S BOYS fell, 34-26, in eighth-grade action.
“The biggest difference in this game was free throw shooting,” Cub head coach Jeremy Weilert said.
Neodesha hit 11 of 16 charities; Humboldt just 5 of 16.
“We were nearly equal in every other statistic,” he said. “I am pleased with the way we played.”
Humboldt spread the wealth offensively. Jacob Barker and Caleb Hart both had four points, Josh Vanatta, Wyatt Seufert and Noah Johnson all had three points, while Zach Korte, Jackson Wilder and Hesston Murrow each scored two. Lance Daniels and Collin Gillespie both had four rebounds.
Humboldt’s seventh-graders also played a balanced game, Weilert said, in rolling to a 39-10 win over the Bluestreaks.
Teryn Johnson scored eight points, while Kyler Allen scored seven. Tucker Hurst had seven points and seven rebounds. Bo Bigelow and Joe Murrow scored six apiece, Logan Gray and Kyle O’Neal had two each and Ryan Sellman had one.
“We were good on both ends of the court,” said Weilert.
The Humboldt boys C team prevailed, 12-8.
Edward O’Neal, Caleb Klauman, Brent Yost, Murrow, Seth Hegwald and Brady Slocum all had two points each.
