Humboldt athletes with Tri-Valley League Junior High titles

Although coming up short for team titles, multiple Humboldt Cubs and Lady Cubs can still call themselves TVL champions.

EUREKA — Multiple Humboldt Middle School athletes earned league titles while competing in the Tri-Valley League Junior High Championship Tuesday night.

As a team, the seventh Lady Cubs finished third, while the eighth-grade Lady Cubs finished fifth. The seventh-grade Cubs finished fourth overall; the eighth-graders finished fifth.

Champions from Tuesday’s TVL meet include eighth-grade Hadlee Allen in the high jump (4’ 6”), Tate Thomas in the boys eighth-grade high jump (5’ 2”) and eighth-grader Mason
Gunderman in the long jump (16’ 10.5”). 

Two eighth-grade students also broke HMS records. Kinsley Isbell set a school record in the triple jump with a 29’ 9” leap for first place. Jase Russell set a school record in the javelin with a 134’ 10” throw.
