Humboldt Cubs, Lady Cubs sweep Uniontown

UNIONTOWN — Humboldt High’s baseball team earned two more wins on Thursday, coming on the road against Uniontown.
“We picked up two more wins tonight which is important as we prepare for regionals,” coach Mike Miller said. “We have to find a way to maintain our focus and put teams away when we get up big on them.”
Humboldt won game one 17-5.
Jake Haviland hit a triple and single, with three RBIs. Kason Siemens hit a single, double and finished with four RBIs. Tyler Korte hit two singles and had four RBIs. Tanner Orth hit a single and had two RBIs. Rayce Hoepker and Corey Whitcomb each finished with a single and RBI. Zach Vanatta scored three runs. Rhett Smith hit a double. Daylon Splane scored two runs.
Siemens pitched the first three innings, giving up two hits, three walks and one run. He struck out four. Corey Whitcomb finished the next two innings, giving up three hits, two walks, and three earned runs.
Humboldt won game two 12-2.
Vanatta hit a single, double and had two RBIs. Siemens hit a single and had two RBIs. Haviland hit a single and had an RBI. Smith hit a double and had two RBIs. Korte hit a double and had an RBI. Whitcomb had a single. Splane hit a single and had an RBI. Hoepker hit two singles and had two RBIs. Dillon Aikins hit a single.
Humboldt (16-2) hosts Caney Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday to close out the regular season.

THE LADY CUBS also picked up two wins at Uniontown.
Humboldt won game one 20-0.
Delaney Umholtz hit a home run, two singles and finished with six RBIs. Mallory Roush hit a double, two singles and had two RBIs. Courtney Richey hit a single, triple and had two RBIs. Breanna Kline hit a single, triple and had an RBI. Brook Turner hit a single, double and had an RBI. Jaci Ross and Kasey Beeman each hit a single and had an RBI. Sabrina Arell hit two singles and had an RBI. Makaylah McCall hit two singles.
Turner picked up her fifth win of the season, pitching three innings, giving up no runs, one hit, no walks and striking out eight.
In game two, the Lady Cubs won 13-0.
Kline hit three singles. Turner hit a single and triple. Roush hit a single, double and had two RBIs. Richey hit a single. Ross hit a triple and had two RBIs. Umholtz hit a double, triple and had an RBI. Beeman hit a double and RBI. Arell hit a single and had two RBIs. McCall hit a single and had an RBI.
Richey is now 12-0 on the mound this season. She pitched six innings, gave up one hit, no runs, no walks and struck out 15.
Humboldt (17-0) also finishes out the season at home against Caney Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
