HUMBOLDT — “It’s a sport that the whole family can enjoy together. Also those of us in the sport take care of each other. If I need a part to get back out on the track and don’t have it, usually there’s another driver who has it and provides it for you. I’d do the same for another driver,” Rodney Sigg, a modified stock car driver, told the Register earlier in the 2010 season.
Sigg’s words rang true last Friday for two fellow drivers at Humboldt Speedway.
Jay Lamons Jr., Savonburg, was leading a B-Mod heat race when the motor in his car blew up. It appeared Lamons was done for the night.
But back in the pit area, that sharing part of the sport took place. Brandon Givens of South Coffeyville, Okla., offered his motor to Lamons, who is running second in points in the B-Mod division at Humboldt.
They had 30 minutes to pull two motors and get Lamons’ car ready to go back out for the feature race. Guess what?
Lamons won the feature race.
Dalton Kirk was second followed by Tim VanGotten, Jimmie Davis and Ron Bunn.
The final chapter of the story coming out of the pit area following the race was: one of Lamons’ crew  members leaned over to Lamons, congratulated him on the win then told him the car might have run better if they had time to put the eighth plug wire back on.
Brandon Rowland pick-ed up his first feature race win at Humboldt Speedway in the pure stock division.
Stetson Deets ran second with Tony Morris in third. Jeremy Willard placed fourth and Mike Aiello was fifth.
In the modified feature, Brain Bolin took the victory with Scott Daniels in second.
Jesse Folk Jr. was third followed by Johnny Bone Jr. and Justin Folk.
Derrek Wilson nailed down the win in the factory stock feature. Tyler James came across the finish line in second. John Rossen was third followed by Paul Snyder and Scott Lucke.
