HUMBOLDT — Brandon Tindle took command early in the 16-lap factory stock feature race. He never reliquished the lead, driving to victory last Friday night at Humboldt Speedway.
He was challenged by Derrek Wilson and John Rosson but neither could get out front. Wilson finished second and Rosson took third with Luke Trowbridge running fourth and Tim Phillips in fifth.
Last Friday was a tune up for this coming Friday. The United States Modified Tour Series (USMTS) makes another stop at Humboldt Speedway. Modified drivers filled the slots in modified heat races and the feature.
Terry Beckham of Joplin, Mo., made his first appearance of the season at the Speedway. Beckham set the tone with a heat race win.
In the modified feature race, Beckham captured the trophy. Brian Bolin finished second. Ryan Whitworth and Justin Folk battled throughout the race.
Whitworth had a big lead on Justin Folk but several caution flags and restarts allowed Justin Folk to narrow the gap. In the final lap, Justin Folk got around Whitworth to take third place. Whitworth settled for fourth and Jesse Folk Jr. rounded out the top five.
The USMTS race at Jetmore Thursday then are at Humboldt Friday. It will be $3,000-to-win modified feature race. Drivers from eight different states are expected.
In last week’s pure stock feature race, Laura Ramey appeared to have another win wrapped up. Ramey’s car hit some oil in turn three on the final lap.
Ramey spun around and backed into the wall taking Jeremy Willard with her. Mike Aiello got clear and got the victory followed by Mark McDaniel, Derryl Aiello, Floyd Taggart and Jacob Graham.
Jay Lamons Jr. took the checkered flag in the B-Mod feature race. He outlasted the challenge of Dalton Kirk, who finished second. Leon Bash was third. Tim VanGotten took fourth and Jimmie Davis placed fifth.
It was Kid’s Night and drivers signed autographs during intermission. Five children went home with backpacks full of school supplies donated by the Speedway.
This Friday should be a big night at Humboldt Speedway. Gates open at 6 p.m. with races starting at 8 p.m.
