Humboldt squad stays perfect

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt Middle School’s volleyball A team took home the Tri-Valley League championship Thursday and ensured a spotless regular season record with a pair of wins over Caney Valley.
The quad defeated Caney Valley 25-15, 25-4 in the first game and 25-13, 25-14 in the finale.
“I am so proud of the girls,” Lady Cub head coach Terry Meadows said. “They came ready to play tonight. It is great knowing we are league champions and undefeated” at 12-0.
In the first contest, Annalise Whitcomb had five points — all on ace serves — and seven assists. Sydney Houk also had five points with four kills and an ace. Makaylah McCall had three points, a kill and two aces. Cara Bartlett, Kassie Angleton, Rylan Wilhite and Tilar Wells each had a point. Bartlett and Wilhite also had single kills.
In the second contest, Angleton had 10 points with nine aces and a kill. Wells had eight points on five aces and three kills. Bartlett’s six points came from aces.
Humboldt’s B team also was victorious in both of its matches against Caney Valley, winning the first 25-7, 15-25, 15-11 and the second 25-4, 25-12.
