The Humboldt Middle School Lady Cubs ended the 2025 season winning a battle of the undefeated after downing Tri-Valley Conference foe Cherryvale Monday night.
The Humboldt A team swept Cherryvale 25-10, 25-9 while the B Team had an equally dazzling performance with a 25-7, 25-7 sweep.
“Our ladies knew Cherryvale was undefeated in league play and that it would take hard work and teamwork to keep our own perfect season alive,” Humboldt coach Darcie Croisant said.
“Both the A and B teams showed some of their best leadership and teamwork of the season.”
Hadlee Allen had a team-leading five kills. Tinley Ermel was Humboldt’s leading server with three aces.
“Mylan Sterling, after being out two weeks due to an injury, came to this match with a lot of leadership, passion, and desire to keep her team on top,” Croisant said. She had eight assists.
The C and D teams also won Tuesday with a pair of sweeps. The C team took their contest 25-18, 25-18.
Brooklyn Watson was the leading server with 12 good serves and seven aces. Zoey Hess and Kalyn Olson tied with five serves and an ace each.
“The girls came out swinging in set one and played really well, and were serving to their abilities,” Croisant said.
Set two, the girls were groggy and not communicating, digging themselves an early hole, being down 15-13.
After a timeout and a forced huddle, they came back to life and won the second set 25-18, keeping their undefeated streak alive.”
The D team also ended the year with a sweep.
Aubree Trim had a team-leading 12 good serves and six aces. Taylin Yelm and Taitum Ryan were next with six serves each. Yelm had three aces and Ryan had one.
