Humboldt’s McNutt sets school mark

WICHITA — Humboldt High junior Tanner McNutt broke a 41-year-old school record Friday.

In taking fourth in the Elite 400-meter dash in 50.38 seconds, McNutt established a new boys’ HHS record. The old mark was 50.8 seconds set by Vern Bruenger in 1971.

McNutt and Nick Keazer, another junior, competed in the Wichita State Pre-State Challenge track meet.

McNutt was in the Elite division, which combined 1-6A teams. He placed ninth in the long jump at 20 feet, 10½inches and ninth in the triple jump at 41’4½”.

Keazer competed in the regular division. He was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 9.72 seconds and eighth in the 400 meters in 53.72 seconds.
