COFFEYVILLE — The Iola Middle School girls basketball team faced off against Coffeyville on the road Monday.
The eighth-grade A team lost its matchup, 27-21. Kelsey Morrison had a team-high 11 points while MJ Neises led the squad with nine rebounds.
“We were down by three with 50 seconds left, we just couldn’t get over the hump,” coach Marty Taylor said. “The girls played hard all game.”
The seventh-grade A team lost its game, 26-9. Jenna Miller was the Ponies’ most efficient rebounder, grabbing a team-high 15 boards.
Miller also had the most points with six.
The eighth and seventh-grade B teams combined to play Coffeyville’s combined B team.
Iola won, 16-13.
Gabby Richards led the Ponies with six points. Caleigh Porter and Rachel Bycroft each had four points.
