IMS eighth-grade stays undefeated

The Iola Middle School eighth-grade Mustangs are 3-0 after all three IMS teams defeated Anderson County Tuesday night.

The Iola Middle School eighth grade basketball team remains undefeated while joining their classmates in a sweep of the Anderson County Bulldogs Tuesday.

The eighth-graders won 39-26, the seventh-graders won 39-15 and the junior varsity held Anderson County to a single free throw during a 44-1 rout.

In eighth-grade action, Austin Campbell had a team-leading 14 points, followed by a 6-point effort from Cade Curry. Landon Desmarteau was the seventh grade scoring leader with 15 points, followed by Greyson Shakahn with 11 points and Colton Hall with 5 points. Jayson Dorius, playing in a combined seventh- and eighth-grade junior varsity contest, scored a team-leading 10 points, followed by Evan Boeken with 9 points, Kaiden Jones and Treyvion Rhoads with 6 points apiece.

With the win, the eighth-grade team improved to 3-0 and the seventh-grade Mustangs improved to 2-1. Both teams look to put a W in the win column while on the road Thursday against the Prairie View Buffalos. Contests begin at 4 p.m.
