COFFEYVILLE — The seventh and eighth-grade teams of Iola Middle School hit the road to face Coffeyville on the gridiron on Thursday afternoon.
The seventh-graders picked up another win on the season after defeating Coffeyville 38-6.
Iola scored 38 unanswered points after Coffeyville went up early with a 45-yard fumble return.
Behind scoring plays from Isaac Badders and   Christian Lindsey, the Ponies stormed back to win the game easily.
Dylon Reiter added Iola’s final touchdown of the game with a 36-yard run.
Badders finished the game with a team-high 150 yards on just nine attempts. He also had two rushing touchdowns.
Lindsey recorded just two receptions for 67 yards but each of his catches went for touchdowns.
“We came out with a little fire tonight and I love that,” coach Marty Taylor said. “We put the ball on the ground a couple of times but we played fast and physical all night.”
The eighth graders lost 50-28.
Dan Foust, Cason Barker and Brady Wiggin all scored for the Ponies. Foust had two scores.
“We just couldn’t keep up with their team speed but the boys didn’t quit,” Taylor said. “Our last drive we took the ball the length of the field and stuck it in the end zone, that shows a little bit of pride.”
