Josh Kaufman came through in a big way for the Iola seventh-grade B-team, but unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough. The Ponies fell 22-14 in double-overtime in the middle school season finale in Pittsburg.

Kaufman led the Ponies with 10 points including a game-tying buzzer beater three to send the game into its first overtime.

Logan Preston and Gage Turner scored the only other Ponies’ points with two each.

IOLA’S SEVENTH-GRADE A-team fell to Pittsburg, 35-31.

Kole Rogers led the scoring for Iola with 11 points. Isaac Badders had 8 points and 10 rebounds.

“We played hard and smart tonight,” Iola coach Marty Taylor said.

THE PONIES eighth-grade A-team fell 55-45 to Pittsburg.

They were led by Cal Leonard with 18 points. Calvin Delich and Cason Barker had 11 and 10, respectively, as well.

“We came out a little short on the scoreboard, but not because of effort,” Taylor said.

THE EIGHTH-GRADE B-team also lost to Pittsburg. They were beaten 31-12.

Asher Sievers led Iola in scoring with five points.
