There was a three-way tie for first place in Thursday’s Iola Middle School volleyball jamboree.
The seventh-grade Team 1 and Team 3 and eighth-grade Team 7 tied for first. Five seventh-grade teams and two eighth-grade teams played in 12 10-minute mini-matches.
Seventh-grade Team 1 was led by Taylor Heslop defensively and serving from Cassie Delich, Morgan Wilson and Courtney Richey.
Brianna Pennett served nine straight points.
Team 3 had good defensive play from Micaiah Larney and Ashley Shields and serving from Klair Vogel, Cheyanne Vaughn and Bayleigh Weide.
“The girls looked much more relaxed and confident on the court this week compared to last week’s jamboree,” said Muffy Fehr, IMS seventh-grade coach.
Other seventh graders with strong play for their teams were Emily Mc-Karnin, Elise Wolf, Mikaela Platt, Joie Whitney, Bobbi Sinclair, Courtney Greer and Allyson Hobbs.
