Iola American Legion team loses to Baldwin

Iola American Legion Post 15’s Indians dropped a doubleheader to Baldwin Tuesday night.
Baldwin won the opener 8-2 with a five-run fourth inning. Iola had scored twice in the third to get within one run, 3-2.
Chris Heffern was the losing pitcher as he pitched four innings. He allowed eight runs on seven hits and three walks and struck out five.
Corey Taylor threw two scoreless innings and had three strikeouts. Jarred Latta pitched a scoreless seventh and hit one batter.
Taylor connected for two doubles for the Iola offense. Levi Ashmore had two singles. Hitting a single apiece were Ryan Latta, Mark Bristol, Ch. Heffern and Ethan Ericson.
The Indians wiped out a 1-0 deficit by scoring three runs in the fifth inning of the second game. But Baldwin responded with four runs in the sixth on its way to a 5-3 win.
Mason Coons, Clint Heffern, Ericson and J. Latta pitched for Iola. They gave up nine hits and issued seven walks.
Ericson had a single and a double for Iola. Bristol doubled and Ashmore singled.
Iola plays at Chanute tonight. The Indians play in a tournament hosted by Burlington Saturday and Sunday.
